Simple Hair Up-Do For Any Occasion

Have you ever watched Youtube videos of girls doing up do’s on themselves and you have no idea how on earth they do that? I mean, when I start clipping my curls up, well the shape always goes a little off and for the life of me I just suck at up do’s.

Do you remember in primay school (or infants/high school) ? When you first learn how to do a plait, you end up attempting with two stands instead of three? Maybe not. But if you did, well done it was a type of plait, called the ropeplait so it’s pretty easy to do.. Don’t worry if you didn’t there are instructions to do so..

However, this little up do is so simple and looks so pretty. If you are on a budget and you’ve got a wedding or even a prom to go to this is such a quick hair do and it can look so elegant. You can dress it up by putting a dutch plait in the front or floral clips in with it.

So what is this up-do called that I’ve fallen so madly in-love with? It’s called a two rope plait bun. It’s great for Thick, Wavy, Frizzy and Curly hair but if you have thin or straight hair you can easily make it  more interesting by teasing the top and making the rope plait more volumised by pulling it. However, this look does look it’s best with long hair..

So what will you need?
  • A brush
  • Four hair bands
  •  Hair Clips
  • Hairspray (Possibly)
And what do you need to do to achieve this look?
  • Firstly, it’s important to brush you’re hair out of any knots and make sure you have dry hair.
  •   Secondly, Split the hair in half down the centre and then create two pig tails within the two pigtails create a rope-plait. To do this, split your hair in to two and twist the hair on the right side, going to the right and then go up over the left section with the twisted right section.. (It’s pretty simple really)
  • Secure your rope pigtails. On your left side, Wrap the first rope-plait around the hairband and create a bun. Then do this on the right side. Secure both buns with hair grips.
  •  Finish the look with hairspray

What's in my Make-up Bag? |❤️

FACE:

L’Oreal Paris Infallible: Shade 120 Vanilla (£10 in Boots). I absolutely adore this foundation, easy to apply... amazing skin match and it’s reasonably priced. Prior to this, I used to use Rimmel and I just found that it didn’t cover my spots or red patches or anything. Since buying this product I have not gone back, so much so I’ve been using it for over 8 months without even trying anything else!

Collection Pressed Powder: (£2 in Boots) It’s reasonably sized and does it job! I find that it’s not too noticeable and It smells so nice!

MUA Luxe Strobe & Glow Highlight Kit: (Usually £5) I adore this product, and yes I normally contour daily and this has lasted me for about two months and it’s got plenty of it left. It’s easy to blend and easy to apply and the packaging is so cute!

Collection Contour Kit Highlight Sculpt: (£4.20 in Boots) So some of you may think, why use MUA highlight when there’s a highlight with this? Well, I found that the highlighter with this just didn’t work as well. I would go through it so quickly, but the contour is perfect for my skin tone. It’s not ridiculous and it’s easy to blend

EYES:

Avon True Colour, Mocha Latte: (Price Varies but Usually can get it for around £4 in a deal!) I personally love brown shades, especially on blue eyes The shades are all pretty subtle, but true to what they look like in the packaging. especially on blue eyes. It’s small and easy to carry around also it has a mirror on one side which is always handy. It’s straight to the point and it stays on for a while but it’s more ‘on the go’ and ‘casual’ than if I was going on a night out.

MUA Eyeshadow Palette, Undressed: (£4) Now switching on to my evening eyeshadow palette, this product has a perfect mixture of nude shimmers and mattes. It’s perfect for creating a subtle look but yet noticeable. I love it!

LIPS:

Maybelline New York, 842 Rosewood Pearl: (Roughly £8) I absolutely adore this lipstick, It’s not too heavy on the lips and the tone is subtle. I do love a good red lip, but when you are on the go or even when you’re out, well me personally red gets all over my cheek and on my teeth by the end of the night. This gives a nice shimmer to the lips and less messy!

I hope you enjoyed. I'm defiantly interested if you've used any of these products before and what you thought about them? Would you recommend them?  Did you prefer others? Please let me know xo

6 Cute Hair Styles Ideas for Girls with Naturally Frizzy Hair | ❤️

1. Topsy-Tail Pony

A topsy pony tail can make an ordinary pony tail look elegant with no effort and it’s perfect whether your heading to the beach or just chilling with some friends drinking cocktails!

What you need: A Comb and A Hairband

How to do it:
  • Firstly, comb your hair all the way through, towards the middle of the back of your head and then gather all of your hair at the back of your head and secure with your hairband
  • Next, make a small gap between your head and your hair band by using your ‘pointer’ finger and your thumb to create a small opening behind the hair band
  • Take the ends of your pony tail, loop them through the small gap in your pony tail and pull through to the other side
  • Once the hair is through the gap you will then have an inside-out pony tail.. You can make any adjustments you need too

2. Headband Plait
There is nothing more satisfying than being able to use your own hair to create a lovely natural headband, perfect for summer.

What you need: Hairspray, Hairgrips, Hair Bands and Hair Clips

How to do it:
  • Firstly, clip back the front sections of hair in front of the ear and create a small 5-7.5 cm rectangle section behind the ear and then clip the hair above it away to use later..
  • Then starting on the left side, make a three stranded plait from behind the ear and secure with a hair band then do the same on the right side
  • Drop down the clipped – back sections and feel free to do what you want, curl it, straighten it .. I personally love the look with it curled but it’s up to you!
  • Then take the plaited sections over your head of the opposite side of your hair and secure them n to place with hair grips
  • Then finish the look by hair spraying the plaits in to place

3. Pony Knot
Similar to the topsy tail look, I personally feel that the pony knot makes a normal pony tail look more sophisticated and elegant.

What you need: Brush, Hair Band, Hair Grips , Hair Spray (optional)

How to do it:
  • Brush your hair and make sure all the knots are out. Then gather your hair loosely towards the nape of your neck and comb through with your fingers to give it an undone soft texture
  • Create a low, loose pony tail and then secure it with a hair band.
  • Make a simple knot by creating a large loop near the base of ponytail and pulling the ends of the ponytail through the loop – this will create a large knot at the base of your ponytail.
  • Deepening on the thickness of your hair, use a hair grip (or 6) underneath the base of the knot to secure it into place – if needed finish the look with hairspray!

4. Messy Side Plait
Nothing says sweet and simple than a messy side plait; it can be used as a great casual look or you can dress it up with a headband or a flower piece to make it more bohemian.

What you need: Comb and Hairband

How to do it:
  • Sweep your hair to the desired side and divide it in to three sections
  • Take the section on the left and cross it up and over to place it in the middle and then take your section on the right and cross it up and over to place it in the middle
  • Repeat this technique switching from left to right, until you get to the ends and then secure it with a hairband
  • Gently pull on each strand to plump your plait, to create a messy texture and then massage some of your hair out of the plait to create some wispy pieces.

5. Asymmetric Cornrow
Nothing like showing your inner rock chick out by creating this style, this look is amazing for festival/gigs!

What you need: Comb, Hair Clip and Hairband

How to do it:
  • Create a deep side parting on the desired side by going as far over as the arch of your brow line
  • From that parting create a large C-like section from the hairline down the side of the nape of your neck, about an inch away from the middle of the back of your neck. Clip back the hair above the C-like section
  • Create a Dutch Plait inside the C-Like section going from your hairline back to the nape of your neck, down to the centre of your section – As you work towards the back of your neck, join hair in to your plait from both sides, keeping the plait central
  • When you reach the nape, secure the plait with a hairband
  • Let the ends of the Dutch plait blend in with the rest of your hair

6. Upside- Down French Back Bun
It’s a great alternative to a top knot and it adds a bit of a quirky flair to the hair. It’s an eye-catching style and it keeps your hair up keeping you cool this summer!

What you need: Brush, Hair Clip, Two Hairbands, Hairgrips and Hairspray (optional)

How to do it:
  • Section off the front section from ear to ear across the crown area and clip back for later
  • Flip your head upside down and start with a normal French plait technique by taking a small section of hair at the nape of your neck and dividing it into three equal sections
  • Start to connect hair from the sides as you work from the nape up towards your crown area and then secure the base of your plait to the scalp with a hair band.
  • Drop the hair out of your clipped back section, add it to your hair outside the plated pony and secure with a hair band
  • Lastly, wrap all the hair around the pony to make a bun and secure with hair grips. If needed to then hairspray lightly to keep everything in place

My 1st Year At Uni

*REPOST FROM MY OLD ACCOUNT*

Since I've seen a lot of people on my twitter newsfeed freaking out about results day. It made me reflect to this time last year and even though I cannot say much because what I was like this time last year was horrendous but as cliche as it sounds everything happens for a reason.

Now, I didn't get in to my first choice of University (by one mark) but by results day I was just so relieved that I got into Uni I didn't care where I was - even though it turned out to be one of the best decisions (which wasn't actually my choice) of my entire life (so far). So anyway, I got in to my second choice and surly the people who didn't get in too this uni there would be room in halls right? nope wrong. So the day after results day, me and my dad started to panic because I never actually seen this uni! I just went of with what people told me (well that could have been a disaster!) anyway, whilst there I found out that all halls we're full and that I had to go to this event called 'House Hunting' which was so unbelievably stressful and sadly my parents had used their time off and couldn't come with me - on my own I went and to my surprise there were loads of students in my position. However something which school didn't prepare me for was how to interact with other people but luckily for me, I sat down by someone whilst filling my details in who was doing the same course as me! so we started to speak, then in the actual talk that they gave us they made us all interact. (What a life saver!) We formed a group quickly and then started to look for a house - we spent all day and let me tell you it was not easy and unbelievably stressful! Anyway, two of the girls dropped out and it became the three of us and we managed to get a house after two days.
I can tell you now, school does not prepare you for your own house and how much money you have to pay before it. And it was so weird, however not living in halls had it's benefits. I actually had to talk to people in freshers and then tagged along to people's pre-drinks. I surprisingly made more friends living in a house than not - but this took time. In November/December time I became really down. I only lived with two other girls who travelled a lot to go back home or seeing their boyfriends. I used to hate coming home and I wasn't sure if I wanted to go on to my second year, I couldn't even be bothered to do my work. However, in one of my modules we had to do group work which meant I was interacting more with other students and then around February time after I came home from Christmas, Things got better because I got to know my course mates well and I started going out with them outside of uni and seeing more people! Me and one of my housemates started spending each night watching films and eating chocolate and unloading of each other. Things started to get better until my house contracted ended and I needed to move on from my house.

Halls: So most people begin halls being in the same boat as each other, no-one knowing anyone. However me, I was intruding on these guys. I was absolutely terrified if they would hate me or well any negative feelings towards me! I moved in on the last day of February and for the first week, I hid as much as I could. Although you have to make food sometimes right? And that's when I started speaking to one of my flatmates who has now become one of my best friends in such a short time! after 4/5 days of having 20 minute conversation with her, whilst I had a few I knocked on her door and asked if she wanted to go to the SU that night - sadly she rejected me (owch) but then she asked me out on the Friday, which I am so glad I went out! Then came the next SU and I met someone from the flat opposite us, he then asked me to come out and I was going through stuff at the time so I was like "fuck it yeah" and that's where I met the males of my flat - however being the only girl out had it's benefits - FREE SHOTS! From then on in Easter time I was close to the boys and that one girl - then the next night I became close to the girls whilst having a film night and basically in a short amount of time living with these people - well they didn't treat me like an outsider, they were welcoming and now I am as close with them as I am with other people.

So If you're panicking about your results and worried about not getting into the 'right' uni. Trust me it may be the best thing that happens to you if you don't.
